LVPEI – SSEI fellowship details:

 

L V Prasad Eye Institute is the official training partner for the Shantilal Shanghvi Eye Institute (SSEI) located at Wadala in Mumbai. The fellowship will comprise:

Part One – Fellowship at L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad (LVPEI): The first 18-months the fellow will be trained at LVPEI’s Hyderabad campus at Banjara Hills, and will undergo advanced learning in his/her chosen area of super specialization.

Part Two – Adjunct Ophthalmologist at SSEI, Mumbai: For the next 18-moths, the fellow will be posted at SSEI for hands-on experience under the supervision of the Head of the Service there. You will be posted at the SSEI Rural Centre (Amerli, Gujrat) for three months.
Part Three – Tenure Track Ophthalmologist at SSEI, Mumbai: Post the completion of the above two phases, the fellow will serve a 24-months service commitment at SSEI. This will provide him/her the needed intellectual environment to nurture into a confident Ophthalmologist.
Terms and Conditions:

1) Fellow-in-Training at LVPEI: Abide by all the rules and regulations of LVPEI

2) Fellowship in Training at SSEI/Adjunct Ophthalmologist

  • You will be required to work in the specialty you are trained
  • Report to your Head of Service
  • Actively participate in the online education sessions organized by LVPEI
  • Handle all patient care areas as assigned (including OR & OPD)
  • Train and teach optometrists, nurses & junior trainees as assigned
  • Working days: Monday to Saturday, and on rotation on Sunday
  • Handle emergency clinic with other faculty colleagues
  • You will be entitled to three weeks of vacation leaves
  • You will be required to have valid Maharashtra Medical Council Registration

3)  Tenure Track Ophthalmologist at SSEI

  • You will be required to work in the specialty you are trained
  • Report to your Head of Service
  • Actively participate in the online education sessions organized by LVPEI
  • Handle all patient care areas as assigned (including OR & OPD)
  • Train and teach optometrists, nurses & junior trainees as assigned
  • Working days: Monday to Saturday, and on rotation on Sunday
  • Handle emergency clinic with other faculty colleagues
  • You will be entitled to four weeks of vacation leaves and two-weeks of meeting leaves (meeting leaves cannot be clubbed with vacation leaves)
  • You will be required to have valid Maharashtra Medical Council Registration
  • SSEI will support for one National Meeting participation after completion of one year as Faculty

Commitment: You will have to abide by the ‘Commitment Bond’ document that you will sign before starting the fellowship. Completion of all the Phases (as mentioned above) is mandatory.
